Ardsley Little League

How Travel and Little League work together

Ardsley Travel is an independent organization that partners with Ardsley Little League. These are the ground rules we follow. Questions about Little League itself go to ardsleylittleleague.org.

Spring scheduling

  • Coaches never cancel or move a Little League game for a travel game.
  • Spring travel home games are played on Sundays.
  • Weekday road games are kept to a minimum.
  • No travel games on Little League Opening Day.
  • Travel schedules are built so players and coaches can meet their Little League commitments.

Fields

  • All field requests go through Ardsley Little League's scheduler.
  • Ardsley Little League decides when fields are closed, with no exceptions.
  • Travel teams play a limited number of home games each year, and home games are never guaranteed.
  • Teams clean dugouts and cover fields after every use.

Team selection

  • Every team is formed through tryouts scored by independent, third-party evaluators.
  • For new teams, tryouts happen before coaches are selected.

Conduct

  • Players, coaches, and parents follow the same code of conduct expected in Little League.
  • Players are expected to be respectful of all players, whether or not they play travel.

Clinics and events

  • Travel players and coaches help run clinics for Little League's youngest divisions, including T-Ball and A.
  • The McDowell Memorial Mash, our Memorial Day fundraiser tournament at McDowell Park, returns in 2027. Details to come.

Point of contact

  • Ardsley Travel has a single administrative contact who coordinates with Ardsley Little League's travel liaisons in spring, summer, and fall.

FAQ

Common questions

Don't see your question? Email info@ardsleytravel.com.

What ages can participate?

Generally 8U through 14U. Specific teams vary by sport and season. For Spring 2027, tryouts are being held for 8U, 9U, 10U, and 11U Boys Baseball and 8U, 9U, and 10U Girls Softball.

How is my child's age group determined?

Baseball follows GHVBL eligibility rules and softball follows GHVSL rules, which can use grade as well as birthdate. Register for the age group those rules assign. Exceptions require Travel Board approval.

How are teams selected?

Players are assessed by independent, professional evaluators at tryouts. The Travel Board reviews those evaluations along with roster needs. Selection is not guaranteed.

Can my child play other sports?

Many of our players do. The registration form asks about winter and spring commitments so coaches can plan. Review your team's attendance expectations before you commit.

What does it cost?

The Spring 2027 tryout fee is $30 cash at check-in. Team fees vary by age, season, league, training, and tournaments, and are shared before you accept a roster spot.

How much playing time is guaranteed?

We don't promise a set amount. Age-appropriate playing-time guidance will be posted here once approved by the Travel Board.

Is Little League participation required?

Yes. Every travel player must play in Ardsley Little League during the spring season.

Is Ardsley Travel part of Ardsley Little League?

No. We are an independent organization that partners with Ardsley Little League. See Travel and Little League above for how we work together.

What happens when a travel game conflicts with Little League?

Little League comes first. Little League games are never moved or canceled for travel, and travel games are scheduled to avoid conflicts.

Are Little League and travel fees separate?

Yes. Little League registration and travel team fees are paid separately.

What if my child isn't selected?

Ardsley Little League offers great baseball and softball every spring, and there are future tryout opportunities. Many players try out again as they develop.

Who coaches the teams?

Team coaches are announced after the selection process is complete.

How can I volunteer or coach?

We'd love the help. Email info@ardsleytravel.com.

Who do I contact with a concern?

Start with your team's coach. For anything program-wide, email the Travel Board at info@ardsleytravel.com.
